I really like the relationship between the two, it's really awesome ;u; also, amazing work on this, animating at all is hard for me personally (probably doesn't help that I am new to it ;; ) and looping is probably insanely hard and tiring, but this turned out beautifully!
Anyone can know what they want about anything. It's not upto you to decide what people think. Everyone has their own interpretations. Just like everyone has their own opinion. If you don't want people commenting their opinions then turn the comment section off. I don't see you having a go at others for displaying their opinion just because it's one you like?
If someone saw a penis in the mona lisa and told the person next to them, do you think da vinci would come around telling them what they can and can't think? I doubt it. It's a public art website. People can say what they like.
I accept your apology but I Highly recommend you thicken your skin a bit so that when you come across another opinion you don't lose your cool.
just because you think something looks like a penis doesn't mean it's appropriate to point it out. You can tell that they obviously were not trying to convey someone walking with a giant gray dick over their shoulders, so I don't think it's nice to point it out. Artist interpretation or not. I can't see how it would look like a penis as there is, No head, no balls, no veins, no details, it's simple a straight object with a curve at the end, which doesn't mean.. penis.
Your comment was kinda rude and I can understand how she may or may not have come off as defensive. Just be more considerate okay? ^-^
You didn't give a critique though. Not every negative reaction is a critique, then again not every positive one is too Saying "It looks great!" Not a critique "It looks like a penis" Not a critique Now "It looks like a penis because it was shapped oddly and you can fix it by doing x and y" is a critique
I would have appreciated at least a critique to fix the problem then having multiple of the same comments childishly told to me. You are acting like I'm a strict 'no mean comments allowed!!' and restricting freedom of opinion. though I accept critiques and heck, even ridiculous comments people tend to leave on my art that give me no clear feedback if it's good or bad. I have in the past hide comments before, the thought on hiding them on all my submissions passed my mind, but again that would make me an opinion stopping tyrant.
Though I was once told that opinions are like assholes, everyone has one but not everyone wants to hear about it. There is a time and place for what you feel is necessary to say, and that is not 'all the time'
If someone thought something looked off, the nice thing on a public art website would be to give constructive criticism to fix the problem rather than people leaving childish comments.
My cool isn't lost friend, you may be taking my responses more sensitive than I let them on to be.
no it doesn't actually! those comments are not constructive criticism, never said they were, friend. It's obviously pleasing to them, and you obviously saw a dick so theres that! powers of deduction are upon us. I made a simple reply and I was honest with it too.
You seem to be getting more indepth with this than necessary, I asked you kindly to be more considerate, not to shut your opinions away forever. Rather than being childish you could have pointed out for me 'Hey! it does look phallic, here's some advice on how to fix it!' Since when I made it that didn't come to mind on what I made looked the way it did, having someone make suggestions would help me notice what I did wrong. What about it MADE it look the way it did? What can I do to change it? Golly friend, do you not know how to be at least a tiny bit considerate towards other artists to help them improve? You have great art in your gallery, I would assume you have the skill to help me out on the topic! A critique won't insult people's intelligence, your primary comment did. You aren't holding my hand to fix the problem, just some handy advice for me to look out for in the future if I attempt something similar.
Heck I don't mind the observation, what I mind is how you conveyed it. You are honestly taking my replies like I'm being sensitive about someone not liking my work when that's not the issue at hand. I can't please everyone and that is totally okay!!! I don't mind if people don't like my work especially if they aren't my target audience (this was just a gift for a friend really! I'm not trying to make the big bucks here)
Please take into consideration that not everyone who defends or tries to explain the situation is obviously 'SUPER OFFENDED THAT SOMEONE DARE DISLIKE THEIR WORK >: ( GRR" but try to be more open about it, I'm honestly trying to have a mature conversation with you about the situation, I'm not arguing with you since you make valid points! Please be more considerate in the future, though thank you over all. I tried to fix it slightly and I hope it's more clear he's carrying a bat!
i am legitimately curious why you felt "it looks like a penis" was a necessary comment though. why you thought that people had to be aware that you thought it looked like a penis.
and also as a footnote? im sure if someone commented that the mona lisa looked like a penis and somehow da vinci was around to hear, he'd probably be offended. spending a large amount of time on something only to hear "lol it looks like a dick" is pretty disheartening. it can also be kinda inappropriate too.
